It is a fact the Spanish development companies have become truly international and among the most powerful in continental Europe. It can now be stated that they are part of the most exclusive group of Western companies that are most active outside their own domestic borders- at least on a European context. Although the expansion pattern has not been the same for all, many have agreed upon their interest in Central and Eastern Europe. After a few years of this tendency, it seems now a good moment to think about the results of it and the next steps likely to be taken by some of the leading and largest Spanish companies in the region. Did they get what they were seeking when decided to move on? What did work and what did not? Partners? Financing? Can it be applied a management model similar to that one back home? Will the interest in CEE deepen or the initial rush will give way to other destinations?
